London, December 2008

I finally sorted and uploaded my photos from London. We were lucky that although it was cold, the skies were generally clear and sunny, making for some nice opportunities for outdoor photography. Even though we spent about a week there, it really wasn't enough, London is vast and I am sure I could have spent much more time there.

Once again, I was shooting with my 20D. Most of the shots used the Canon 17-55 f2.8 IS EF-S, but I was also using the Tokina 11-16 f2.8. My general impression is that the Tokina yields richer colors, but I am a layperson.

I ended up dividing the shots into 10 galleries, 9 devoted to specific places, and a 10th gallery with miscellaneous shots that didn't fit into any of the other galleries. They are all accessible here. The specific galleries include Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament, the Tate Contemporary and Millenium Bridge, night scenes primarily in the area along Piccadilly Street between Hyde Park Corner and Piccadilly Circus but from elsewhere in London as well, Regent's Park and Regent's Canal, the Canada Memorialin Green's Park, the London Eye, the Jubilee Bridges, the Underground, a carnival called the Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park. And there is a grab bag of other photos from places like the British Museum, St. Pancras station, the Tower Bridge, and other places here.

For your enjoyment, I embedded a slideshow of favorites below, or else you can review favorites at a more leisurely pace here:
